For ECE Teachers: Five Conflict Management Styles (60 minutes)

Read this blog article, Conflict Management Styles (Andreev, 2024) about five styles of management that leaders embody in various ways. There are exemplars of these styles to help understand how they look and sound in real-life situations. As you read, consider how these styles fit or may not fit within an ELCC environment. Which styles do you see yourself reflected in?

When you scroll further down on the site, you will find a Conflict Management Style Quiz. There are 15 questions. Take the quiz and count up your responses in relation to each management style. To find your most preferred style, total the points in the respective categories/styles listed. The one with the highest score indicates your most commonly used or preferred strategy. The one with the lowest score indicates your least preferred strategy.

Further down in the site, after the quiz, are eight helpful tips when managing conflict to add to your tool box!

PANDA CUB HOUSE LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We humbly acknowledge that we are settlers here on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and traveling route to the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit, whose footsteps, culture, knowledge and history have marked these lands for centuries. This is the land that we inhabit, we are only here because of Treaty. We are all treaty people.

We are non-Indigenous people whom are grateful to live, work, learn and play here in Treaty 6 territory and acknowledge that we are a visitor on this land. In response to the TRC and in the spirit of genuine reconciliation, we are committed to understanding the effects of colonization, our role in it, and how we can be a better ally and apprentice, and to uplift the voices of Indigenous people.
