MEET TEACHER BABINA

Teacher Babina has always been a champion of higher education. For several years now, Teacher Babina has been going to school part-time after work to continue and pursue higher education. She lives very far away so she wakes up at 5:00AM everyday to be at our centre by 7:00AM and she has done so since she started working here and she’s never been late once. She excels in our fast-paced and high pressure environment because she knows everything about the centre inside and out, whether it be government policies or day-to-day operations, she knows everything and she thinks fast on her feet. Her dedication and devotion to her profession, career, and industry is highly admirable and it’s been evident in her work daily with the children. She’s constantly and consistently applying the skills, knowledge, and wisdom that she’s learnt from her courses into her daily activities and centre work with the children. The children benefit from her out-of-this-world creativity a whole lot. She can put together the most unique, creative, and fun play experiences for the children and she’s able to always tie it into something she’s learned at school (to put into practice and exercise a theory, a philosophy, or a school of thought). We’re always so proud of Teacher Babina’s high quality work ethics and high calibre of work produced. Thank you so much for your many wonderful years of service, Teacher Babina!

PANDA CUB HOUSE LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We humbly acknowledge that we are settlers here on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and traveling route to the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit, whose footsteps, culture, knowledge and history have marked these lands for centuries. This is the land that we inhabit, we are only here because of Treaty. We are all treaty people.

We are non-Indigenous people whom are grateful to live, work, learn and play here in Treaty 6 territory and acknowledge that we are a visitor on this land. In response to the TRC and in the spirit of genuine reconciliation, we are committed to understanding the effects of colonization, our role in it, and how we can be a better ally and apprentice, and to uplift the voices of Indigenous people.
