For ECE Teachers: Ontario College of Registered ECEs Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice


Currently Ontario is the only province in Canada that holds ECEs accountable for their ECE practice. ECEs must register with the Ontario College of ECEs and adhere to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice in order to keep their registration with the College in good standing, and to be able to work in licensed childcare/preschool programs, junior and senior kindergarten programs. Ontario has a more established profession than we do in Alberta and therefore has a Code of Ethics that is followed province-wide.  

This is the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice (CECE, 2017) for the Registered College of ECEs in Ontario.

In response to the TRC and in the spirit of genuine reconciliation, we are committed to understanding the effects of colonization, our role in it, and how we can be a better ally and apprentice, and to uplift the voices of Indigenous people.​
